What do I need to know?

No, only the YKDFN member or Det’on Cho employee is able to purchase the items. Both members and employees must bring proof of membership or employment every time they come to Northbest.

Band member lists are confidential, so the only way Northbest Distributors can confirm you are a Yellowknives Dene First Nation member is with a status card.

You will need to apply for a card from Indigenous Services Canada. The YKDFN Band Office can provide more details.

The paystub verifies you are currently employed by one of Det’on Cho’s wholly-owned companies: including Det’on Cho Management LP, Det’on Cho Bouwa Whee LP, Det’on Cho We Le Dai LP, Det’on Cho Environmental, Det’on Cho Construction LP, Det’on Cho Kavanaugh, Det’on Cho Logistics, or Det’on Cho Northbest Distributors LP.

Northbest is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Hours may vary on holidays. Visit any time during their opening hours. Northbest is located at 347 Old Airport Road.

Yes. As long as you are a YKDFN member or employed by one of Det’on Cho’s wholly-owned companies, you can purchase items.

We are unable to offer retail sizes of perishable items.

Northbest is a food distribution company which differs from a standard grocery store. Our clients include restaurants, hospitals, mining camps, and other large institutions which feed hundreds of people a day. These clients purchase in bulk to meet their unique needs.
